In 2010, the five Adventist health systems in North America, including Loma Linda University Health, created the Adventist Health Policy Association (AHPA). Together these five systems operate over 80 hospitals across the country with approximately 75,000 employees.

The primary goal of AHPA is to ensure these faith-inspired health systems can continue their mission of providing the highest quality, whole-person health care. For more about this organization, visit the AHPA website.

In 2012, AHPA proposed that an academic health policy institute be established at Loma Linda University. The University’s Board of Trustees approved the creation of the Institute for Health Policy and Leadership (IHPL) later that same year, and IHPL began operations in July 2013.
